Get Ready for 'The Great British Baking Show' With These Recipes

by Maribel Lopez
June 6, 2017 | I ❤️ PBS

In its first three seasons, “The Great British Baking Show” has provided many—even those who don't know the difference between wax paper and parchment paper—with a sweet tooth for competitive baking. (FYI Parchment paper is heat-resistant, wax paper is not and could catch fire in the oven—the more you know!)

In anticipation of the show's fourth season, we wanted to share a few of our favorite recipes from past seasons with you to demonstrate how baking could (maybe) be anyone’s thing. Try them out for yourself and let us know how it goes!

Tea Time Scones

As you get ready to host your at-home viewing and tea party of "The Great British Baking Show" premiere (you're welcome for the idea) these adorable little scones are a must. The ingredients required are super simple—chances are you have them all sitting your pantry waiting for their moment. Pair them up with some butter and jam and both you and the scones, are golden.

Tiramisu Cake

If you're looking for something a dash more flashy than scones, we have one word for you: tiramisu. Just finding some of the ingredients are challenge! However, this crowd-pleaser is totally worth the work. Follow directions and you'll be fine!

Cherry Cake

Ah yes. Mary Berry's Cherry Cake. Evenly distributed cherries throughout the cake are a must. No soggy bottoms allowed. Frosting optional.

Lemon Tartlets

Another adorable option for a tea party. These little lemon tartlets will bring all the zest and some to your guests' tastebuds. On a scale from one to tricky tiramisu, this lands smack in the middle. Plenty of chances to screw it up but follow the directions and you'll be turning lemons into lemon tartlets in approximately 30 minutes to one hour.

Prosciutto, Manchego, and Balsamic Onion Soda Bread

This is for you savory folks. We get you. This bread pulls out all of the stops. We've got prosciutto. We've got manchego. We've got onion. We can't disagree with Oprah on this one. We. Love. Bread. Too.

"The Great British Baking Show" returns to screens of all sizes beginning June 16th. Binge watch the show with PBS Passport.
