The official preview language for the Season 5 (!) premiere of Call The Midwife is:
It’s 1961 and Poplar is beginning to feel the winds of social change, along with improvements in housing, sanitation and healthcare.
My official preview language is:
If Trixie does Crossfit and doesn’t try to get everyone involved, is she actually doing Crossfit? Also, physical deformities on babies will tear apart a relationship.
How’s that? Seriously though, that’s the premise of the first episode. “Keep-fit” is Trixie’s new obsession, though she can’t escape her mission of helping under-served and uneducated women in the community who don’t understand their bodies. Naturally, she manages to find scandal when she’s published in the newspaper wearing clothes that show every single curve on her body — of which her colleagues will have absolutely none of! On the birthing front, we follow a gut-wrenching story of a new mother who gives birth to a limb-less baby. Mom and Dad don’t see eye-to-eye on the gift of this baby even with the deformity, and the viewer is thrown right in the middle of it all.
The best thing about this show is how real the drama is. Nearly every single situation is pulled from reality and easily digested by the viewer. I hope you can catch the new season! See you in Poplar.
