Mind of a Chef Brings a New Season of Nom Nom Nom

If you weren’t already hungry, you’re about to be. Mind of a Chef returns to tpt in September with new episodes and new chefs.

If you haven’t been keeping up thus far, Mind of a Chef is a new form of torture that will leave you squirming, drooling and somehow both ravenous and disgusted simultaneously. More specifically, it’s a PBS Food series that combines travel, cooking, history, science, and humor into a one-of-a-kind journey into the culinary realm.

All three seasons have been narrated by culinary bad-boy (is there any other kind?) and TV foodie, Anthony Bourdain.

Each season features different chefs with different backgrounds, expertise and food philosophies. It makes for an interesting and versatile viewing and is a must-see for any foodie.

Season 1 featured David Chang of Momofuku (in NYC and elsewhere). Season 2 featured Sean Brock of McCrady’s and Husk in Charleston, SC and Nashville, TN respectively as well as April Bloomfield of The Spotted Pig, The Breslin Bar & Dining Room, The John Dory Oyster Bar and Salvation Taco in NYC. Season 3 will take us into the minds of Magnus Nilsson of Faviken in Jamtland, Sweden, and Edward Lee of 610 Magnolia and The Wine Studio in Louisville, KY.

These chefs are doing their part to make a mark on culinary history and our experience and relationship with food. In Lee’s own words: “You know, I just want to change it a little bit. I’m not trying to rewrite the books…”

As we know well in the Twin Cities (with its bourgeoning food scene), chefs are the new punk rockers, the new beat poets, the new impressionists. They are shaking things up, breaking the rules and forging their own way. Mind of a Chef dives into that mentality and extracts the essence of what the food scene is on to these days. It gives a deeper look into the minds of these crazy-geniuses and what fuels them. These are the men and women who are behind the latest crazy food craze/innovation that makes us all go gaga – think cronuts, people.

Ultimately, it’s artistic, inspiring and engaging viewing. Just be sure to have good dinner reservations after…
